For my most recent birthday we went and had afternoon tea at the Adolphus in Dallas. It was fun to dress up and be fancy with my special guests (Mom, Grandma, and Ayu-chan).
At the time I was about 4 months post partum and hardly any of my nice dresses fit! I was (and still am somewhat) in that zone between maternity clothes and pre preg stuff, but I didn’t want to go out and spend a bunch of money on a dress that (hopefully) wouldn’t fit for very long. Thankfully, I had this one BCBG dress that I was able to squish into somewhat gracefully.
It’s been a few months since then and I’m thinking it’s time for another tea party! This time I’d like to try out Lavendou. It’s quite a bit less expensive and had good reviews last time I checked.
Its so fun to get dressed up and have tea with friends. In fact, my baby shower was also at a teahouse! This was a cute little place in Grapevine, TX, called Beatitudes.
Sometime it might be fun to throw a little tea party at home as well. For that I think a set like this one might be nice.

Actually, I came across this tea seat at Teavana several years ago and I loved it, but just didn’t think I would really use it. If I can come up with a good reason then I may just go for it!

My husband is a generous guy. So whenever there’s a holiday coming up, such as 💗Valentine’s Day💝 he usually asks me what I would like as a gift. Good husband, right? 💕
So I’ve asked him to get me some delightfully girly 3D art stick on nails from here, http://www.etsy.com/shop/Aya1gou.
Although sometime before the big day I think I’d like to try one of these Valentine’s Day themed designs,http://www.babble.com/babble-voices/take-10-jaime-morrison-curtis-jacinda-cannon-boneau/2013/01/14/10-valentines-day-nail-tutorials/#seeing-dots”.
This one caught my eye.
I recently purchased some nail art supplies from a Korean beauty goods store, called The Face Shop, in Carrolton (between HMart and Mozart’s).
I’m sorry to say that the nail art pen did NOT work. I’m not sure if it is just this particular pen or if they are all no good. Anyway, I’m still looking forward to using these gorgeous nail stickers and these two sparkly polishes.
So if you’ve been thinking about getting a nail art pen, I’d recommend Walgreens or somewhere else.
Its been cold for a few weeks now here in DFW so I’m sure we have all had the opportunity to make use of our cute winter wear by now.
asymmetrical peacoat in navy
I received this darling coat from my Sweety for my birthday in October and I’ve been wearing it every chance I get (and if you see me this winter, I’ll probably be wearing then too (⌒-⌒; )) we paid full price (Doh!), but I just found out its on sale for 99.95!
If you’re interested you can purchase it at http://www.anthropologie.com
A lovely design on medium length nails
Despite my passion for girliness, one traditional element of femininity I have always lacked is a set of long finger nails. Its not that my nails won’t grow, it is just that I cannot stand the feeling of having debris trapped under them. Whenever they grow out no matter how many times I wash them it feels like I’ve been building sand castles and scratching off lottery tickets. Therefore, I generally keep my nails pretty short. Also, less chance of accidentally scratching my baby boy.
However, we we were in Thailand last winter I was able to indulge in a lovely manicure at a Japanese nail art salon. Most of their offerings were premade acrylic nails, but I asked if they could get a design on my natural nails (never had fake nails before). Graciously, the nail tech complied and went to work using what looked like white sand and a delicate brush to create the most intricate and exquisite floral design that I had ever seen. It took about an hour(!) to do it and it only lasted about a week (maybe lasts longer with acrylics?), but it was completely worth it to me.
Fuzzy iPhone picture doesn’t do it justice
I haven’t had anything like this done since we came back, mostly because I didn’t think it was available. I’m pretty sure you can get some neat designs here too, but I doubt that most techs have the expertise to hand craft such detailed and myriad designs on natural nails.
So, these days, as a second best option, I’ve been getting gel nails done whenever I get a manicure. It may not be nearly as pretty, but you can’t beat the durability!
Edit: I found this great shop on Etsy.I’m thinking about ordering a set, but they’re a bit pricey. Hmmm…
I thought that I’d start off with some pictures of things around our apartment that represent my design style.
A plant candle and paper flowers in a pot.
Little trinkets above the stove.
Bear plus honey equals love!
I really love using unique art to decorate. Etsy is a wonderful resource for artwork. You can get a great print for a reasonable price, the only drawback being that you have to sometimes peruse hundreds of images till you find one you like, or till your eyes dry up and you get a migrane like me. That bear decal is adorable, but it was a real pain for us to put it up.
There is so much more I would like to do as far as design goes, but alas furniture is expensive (especially with my taste) and we can’t paint our walls here so I’ll have to continue adding things little by little until I’m satisfied. And, then I’ll probably want to change it again. 💕
Japanese Gardens in Ft. worth, TX
I’m starting this blog because I want to share my love of all things girly with women like myself, women of all ages that embrace their femininity and enjoy expressing it through fashion.
I imagine I will also post about cooking, fitness, home decor and baby stuff – whether it be pertaining to my baby son or possibly baby sloths and other adorable animals.
I may also sometimes do posts in both English and Japanese, but I am a native English speaker so please excuse any strange or unnatural sounding Japanese.
Anyway, I will be posting pictures soon so please stay tuned…or, uh, check back later, rather.
